Learn About Our Family Dental Practice

My core philosophy as a dentist is to establish a lasting relationship with my patients, and to treat them with respect and patience.  As a team, we welcome patients of all ages, both pediatric and senior patients and everyone in between! We maintain high standards of care and continually strive to be the best we can be for you.

Our care is comprehensive which means we don’t just treat one tooth, we examine your whole mouth, and make sure your healthy mouth contributes to your general health. Your oral health is our priority and we will help you keep your teeth beautiful and healthy.

We like to establish long-term relationships with our patients. We don’t judge our patients if they haven’t been to a dentist in a long time and we will go the extra mile to make sure your visit is fun, full of laughter, and relaxing.

You are welcomed by a calming fountain in a garden the moment you enter our building. Our practice is also fully accessible. We have a calming waiting room with beverages and TVs in our treatment rooms to take your mind off dentistry. We also have a Comfort Menu of items to choose from to help you relax during your dental treatment.

Dentistry has been Dr. Barakat's passion since she was fitted with braces as a teenager and was inspired by the dentists that treated her. She grew up in a multicultural environment so she can relate to patients of all backgrounds. She then attended Boston College and stayed in Boston to attend the Boston University School of Dental Medicine where she earned her DMD degree. Though not mandatory, she completed a residency on Advanced Education in General Dentistry in Detroit, Michigan.

She believes education in dentistry should never stop and is committed to lifelong learning to ensure that she stays current with her dental skills and continually improves the care she delivers to her patients. That is why she is among the distinguished 6 % of dentists in North America who have earned Fellowship status in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD)  and is currently on track to earn her Mastership, which is the highest credential given to general dentists. She also earned a Fellowship in the prestigious Misch Implant Institute.

Aside from clinical dentistry, being a leader in organized dentistry has been an important part of the profession for Dr. Barakat. She served as President of the San Diego Academy of General Dentistry, helping local dentists with their educational and professional needs, but also participates in national meetings with a goal of participating in issues concerning dental policy making and legislation. She loves to read and contributes blogs and articles for the AGD and for the San Diego County Dental Society’s newsletter in her own time.

When not chairside with patients, she plays league tennis, runs, swims and is happy being outdoors in beautiful San Diego. Her keen interest in sports led her to the Academy of Sports Dentistry, which prepares her to guide athlete and fitness focused patients to protect their teeth during activities.

Her practice philosophy is patient-centered with a focus on compassion and quality. She is commited to forming long term relationships with her patients and making their comfort a priority in her practice.
